Video Recording, Live Web Streaming & Extras

‘The most important part of a Video Recording is the Audio Quality’

Few people would be willing to sit through any event if the sound quality was poor and this goes for anyone logging into a Web Stream or a Web Posting. No one would log in just to sit and look at the moving images. Almost all the video work we do is at Public Meetings and Conferences so without high quailty sound, both in the room, and on the recording, everything is lost. To keep Add-on prices as low as possible the video work we do is done under certain constraints. YouTube Link Below

ATSound has been offering add-on services at competitive prices for many years but everything starts with the Microphones and Public Address System. If people talk anywhere in a room without using a microphone the quailty of all the sound suffers.

Clip 1 – This is a 2min Clip made up of 4 x 20second segments taken from recent recordings. These clips are typical of the simple library work we are asked to produce. As an Add-on, the typical cost for this service, assuming an event lasts less than 3hours is £125 + Vat

Clip 2 – This is a 1min YouTube video showing sections taken from 2hour Live Test Webstream. These tests were put together to demonstrate how easy it is to link in-to a ‘Live Broadcast’. It also demonstrates ‘Live Broadcast Effects’ which are easily added and taken away in real time during a transmission.

To keep prices for video work to a minimum we work to:-

  • A single stand-alone camera is used.
  • The camera is ‘Locked-Off” so unattended.
  • The event is recorded at HD 1080p but is then compressed down to 720p for uploading, the original 1080p copy being held on file for 12months only.
  • No additional lighting is used to suppliment the room lighting.
  • Live Web Streaming is dependant on there being a good reliable 4G service in the building or there is a reliable un-shared internet access cable in the room.
  • Live Web Streaming is generally Hosted on a video hosting site such as YouTube, see the YouTube links above and Hosting below.
  • Web Links are publicised ahead of time with download links available to admin. Ask for a free demonstration

Video Hosting Services

A ‘Hosting Service‘ is an internet-based website where a video is sent waiting viewers to ‘Log In’ and watch. There are a number of these sites available, all have their advantages and disadvantages.

  • YouTube is by far the most popular requiring ‘No login’, it also works on almost any device. PC, Mac, Tablet or Phone
  • Facebook often requires a viewer to have an account which many people are now opposed to, lots of people are starting to object to being told they have to ‘Sign-In’.
  • Ustream and Twitch are typical specialist Streaming Sites, these often only work with their own downloadable Apps.

Hosting a Live Stream Broadcast on an ‘In-house’ Websites – ATSound would not normally recommend that a ‘Live Stream’ be hosted on an In-house website for a number of reasons.

  • The amount of processing needed to compile incoming data from a live stream can be huge, most In-house computer systems would struggle to stop dropout and jitter.
  • The amount of data traffic generated by views can again overwhelm typical In-house systems. Remember people will be logging in-and-out throughout a broadcast and an In-house system still must cope with all the usual day-to-day office services.

 Suggested Approach

  1. Use a Hosting Service for the Live broadcast
  2. Publicised this in advance by advertising a time/date ‘Stream Link’. This can be done via direct email, published advertising and via company website notices.
  3. The Live Stream is always recorded for future use, this is then provide to the event organiser, usually the following day as a ‘download’                                        (2h Video = 3gb Data File)
  4. Host this downloaded Video on the company website.
